Fear, anxiety, hope…
I’m overwhelmed by the USA.
Art is how I deal.

UPDATE, 7/29/20:
To answer questions I’ve gotten since posting a few days ago…
1.
These are digital illustrations…
I take a source manual or digital illustration, or more usually manipulated photo…
Then further manipulate it by manual illustration, filters, overlays, typography…
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Then select the image(s) that best reflect my gut at the moment… From dozens…
And slap on a title… A cognitive “frame.”
I began doing this series after the George Floyd murder…
The resurgence of the #BlackLivesMatter movement…
And the uprising of civil protest sweeping the USA…
During a catastrophic pandemic. Headed into hurricane season…
To deal with the toxic levels of stress our dire American situation…
Forces my autistic nervous system me to go through…
#AutisticSurvivor.
Never meant to share with more than a few friends. And am just now searching down credits for any original work I sampled.
2.
Is this art?
Hell, I dunno. Call it kraft….
Otoh…
A photographer uses a machine, about which she has some training on settings…
With which she takes rolls of film, cherrypicks the best, then may manipulate the negative & the print to heighten the effect…
Then frames it.
Isn’t that what Ansel Adams did?
Different media. Same process.
Image art exists in an open heart & mind experiencing through that eye/ear/hand/taste/smell/touch grace…
Everybody owns a camera…
Everybody owns paper & pen…
You either got “the eye” or not.
It ain’t about hand-eye coordination…
Or specific technology.
Many of these are available for reproduction. Drop me a note if interested.
