I’d love to hear from you about this episode. Let’s build a bridge across autistic generations.

Cuz we got an entire autistic culture to create.Drop me a comment or email.

I answser one personal question each episode. Here we go:

No… I’ve never been an actor… or narrator.

Take an autistic kid… secretly mimicking movie actors, tv ads, pop songs, and talkshow hosts…

in his basement… for 7 decades?

I’m what happens.

One “special interest” that’s finally coming in handy…

Next week? Autism & Substances. You know, those substances…

Some have helped. Some not so much. Let’s compare notes.

Oh no! It appears the audio isn’t working on this post, so I can’t listen.

Regarding your next topic of substances, I’m very much looking forward to it.

I never used any until I was 23, but marijuana (used wisely and in conjunction with therapy) has been very therapeutic for me personally.

Unfortunately I feel a lot of shame for it. Addiction runs in the family, so I grew up being staunchly against alcohol and other substances. I tried drinking but did not find it worth it. I don’t drink still (I feel like I can taste alcohol in the parts per billion! It’s gross!) but can’t deny marijuana been crucial in helping me cope with living in a NT world. I just make sure I take breaks to check in with myself and make sure it is something I am not dependent on.

Hoping as I get more in touch with my diagnosis of autism that I can need it less, but I am happy to have it as a tool in my bag for when I need to deal with being overstimulated or overwhelmed. I am definitely in what I think is year 4 or 5 of burnout, but I was only diagnosed this Spring. Hoping this knowledge helps me find my way out of burnout, especially with your podcast to help!
